Medical nitrous oxide (N2O) - Fill nitrous oxide cylinder
We are also your contact for compressed gas cylinders with medical-grade nitrous oxide.
Medical nitrous oxide is an anesthetic and therefore a prescription drug. According to the German Medicines Act (AMG), medical nitrous oxide may only be dispensed to authorized persons (doctors, veterinarians, and medical facilities). We are obligated to verify proof of eligibility.
We also offer medical nitrous oxide (N2O) in 10-liter cylinders for exchange. If you would like to exchange your empty nitrous oxide cylinder, we will send you a filled cylinder from our exchange pool and add your empty cylinder to our exchange pool. You only pay for the filling and shipping.
If you wish, we can also collect your empty nitrous oxide cylinder / compressed gas cylinder and return it to you after filling.
We offer both the replacement and refilling of your nitrous oxide cylinder throughout Germany.
Why nitrous oxide?
Nitrous oxide is an anesthetic and, in small doses, has pain-relieving, anxiolytic, and, to a lesser extent, analgesic effects. It induces a kind of "foggy" state and elevates the patient's mood. Due to its short duration of action, it is easily controlled. Patients describe a pleasant and relaxing effect, as well as a certain distance from what is happening during treatment. The state is often described as a kind of hypnosis or trance. This allows the doctor/dentist and the treating team to work more relaxed and effectively.
Effects and risks of nitrous oxide
Since nitrous oxide leaves the human body almost entirely in the same form and quantity when exhaled, it is not metabolized or converted.
With repeated use, habituation (tolerance) may develop. To achieve the desired effect, an increasingly large amount of gas is then required. This, in turn, can lead to psychological dependence. However, physical dependence is not known. No significant impairment of the heart or other organs is known.
The treatment/inhalation should be carried out while sitting or lying down, as dizziness or loss of consciousness can lead to serious injuries from falls.
